In order to encourage our youth to practice regular physical activity, the Oasis Montreal Marathon created in 2006, the “5K run- School Challenge” ( for primary and high school students).
On the basis of each school’s participation, three awards ($1000, $500, $250) and a pennant are given to the winning schools in the hope of improving sports services. More than 600 students participate in the Challenge each year!
To encourage participation, in the Student Challenge, entry fees are fixed at a discounted $15 per entry. To register your school, simply follow the steps below:
The 5K Student Challenge starts at the corner of Rachel and St-Michel streets at 8: 40 am. To get to the starting area, we suggest you take the metro and stop at Joliette station on the green line. From the station there is a short 10 minutes walk to reach the start line.
All entrants in the school challenge will receive a medal, the official t-shirt, a light lunch at the finish line as well as a personalised certificate printable from our website a few weeks after the event.

The Parc Maisonneuve will be the finish line for all participants. All runners and walkers are invited to the rest and refreshment area, where a complimentary light lunch will be offered, by the Oasis Montreal Marathon. For details, click here.
At the Expo-Marathon, you will receive a plastic bag. To use the bag depot service, you must bring this bag on the morning of the race. You will be able to leave you personal effects at the start and retrieved them at the finish line until 3:30pm. The actual bag check is on the start line, where you will see yellow buses. It will operate from 6:30am to 8:20am for the Student Challenge’s participants.
Money prizes will be given to school with the most entries. This way, the three schools with the most participants will be give $1000, $500 and $250 as well as gold, silver and bronze pennant. Prizes will be handed out on the day of the event, upon arrival at the Parc Maisonneuve on the awards stage.
